Playing Pig Press is the brainy (or creative) love-child of author and publisher Betty R. Han. This new and revolutionary publishing company is based in beautiful Omaha, Nebraska.

Playing Pig Press was created in August of 2006; to fill a need in children's media that reflected real American family life. The goal of Wholesome Quality" or "Comfort Food Media" became her mission Statement.

Betty had the concept of a series of stories featuring two young girls named Freckles and Maya. With Betty's help and inspiration, illustrator Kurt Swanson came up with the charming and classic look and design of the girls you see today.

Their first publication, "Freckles and Maya" was released in November of 2006. It introduced the world to the two best friends and their first adventure together. Their follow up and second book in the series, "The Gift", will be released in 2007.

Playing Pig Press participated in several area boutiques and fundraisers throughout the 2006 holiday season. Freckles and Maya and the Playing Pig Press universe have been embraced in the local community and are now prepared to reach out to children everywhere.

"Huck: The Crew Chief Kid" a spin-off of the Freckles and Maya series, this exciting new character showcases Freckles' little brother and his alter ego, the Crew Chief Kid. 'Huck: The Crew Chief Kid" was released in February of 2007 and premiered in New York at the American International Toy Fair.

Playing Pig Press is off to a stellar start and 2007 looks to be a big year, with many new publications and products for children slated for release.

Remember, when you are "Searching for wholesome quality...Just LOOK for the Pig!”
